Mizzou, KU trade ‘Mean Girls’ insults on Twitter
It began innocently enough.
ESPN’s Dana O’Neil noted that Pitt and West Virginia had agreed to renew their men’s basketball rivalry for the first time since the 2012 season. After that, the schools moved to different conferences. West Virginia went to the Big 12 and Pitt joined the ACC.
So O’Neil tweeted this about the return of the Backyard Brawl series:
Pitt and West Virginia renew announce four-game series and renewal of rivalry. Well done. Hey Kansas and Missouri -i paying attention?

Renew the Border War? Well, Mizzou answered O’Neil with this:
@ESPNDanaOneil Yes.

Pretty much noncommital, but someone at Kansas took note, and they responded with a meme from “Mean Girls.”
