Chiefs lose Derrick Johnson for rest of Raiders game due to Achilles injury

Derrick Johnson rolled over and flipped his helmet off. He seemed to know his night was over.

On Thursday, with the Chiefs leading the Oakland Raiders 21-3 in the second quarter, Johnson, the Chiefs’ star inside linebacker, fell mid-play due to a non-contact injury.

He was later carried off the field and escorted to the locker room, where he was eventually ruled out for the rest of the game with a left Achilles injury.

Johnson ruptured his right Achilles in the 2014 season opener and missed the rest of the season.

With Johnson out, the Raiders proceeded to mount a 92-yard scoring drive that cut their halftime deficit to 11.

Johnson, a four-time Pro Bowler, leads the Chiefs in tackles with 89 on the season. Eric Berry, the next closest Chief, has 59.
