Chiefs cornerback Marcus Peters, who missed his first NFL game last week because of a hip injury, returned to practice on a limited basis on Wednesday.

“Peters is going to go today,” Chiefs coach Andy Reid said. “We’ll see how he does, rep-wise. We’ll keep a close eye on it.”

Several others didn’t practice on Wednesday, including wide receiver Jeremy Maclin, who has missed the previous two games because of a groin injury, and outside linebacker Dee Ford.

Ford injured a hamstring late in the first half of last Sunday’s home loss to Tampa Bay.

“We’re literally taking it day to day,” Reid said when asked if Ford’s injury could be long-term. “You talk to him and he’s upbeat about everything. We’ll have to see how it goes.”

Others who didn’t practice were inside linebacker Derrick Johnson (hamstring), nose tackle Dontari Poe (knee), defensive linemen Jaye Howard (hip) and Kendall Reyes (knee), and running back Charcandrick West, who is in concussion protocol.
