The Chiefs signed defensive lineman Jarvis Jenkins on Monday, according to a tweet from his agent.

Jenkins, 28, has spent five seasons in the NFL with Washington, Chicago and the New York Jets.

He provides experienced depth along the line while Jaye Howard recuperates from a hip flexor injury. Howard missed Sunday’s game at Carolina.

To make room for Jenkins on the roster, the Chiefs released defensive end David King.
