Chiefs linebacker Justin Houston not ruled out of Sunday’s game
Linebacker Justin Houston is ever so close to returning to action for the Chiefs.
Chiefs coach Andy Reid said Monday the team will continue to proceed with caution as it plots Houston’s comeback, but Reid has liked what he’s seen from Houston in practices.
Houston injured a knee late last season and had an anterior crucitate ligament repaired in February. He’ll be activated from the physically unable to perform list by this Wednesday’s deadline and hasn’t been ruled out of Sunday’s game at Carolina.
“We want to make sure he’s safe going here,” Reid said. “He has pushed through and his work ethic has driven him to this point. He’s been a beast on this thing. It’s been fun to watch.”
The lines of communication will remain open.
“We’ve kept a good dialogue open,” Reid said. “He’s looked very good out there, moving around.”
▪ On Monday, the Chiefs also released cornerback Terrance Mitchell, freeing up a spot on the 53-man roster.
