Surgery for Chiefs’ Justin March-Lillard, Allen Bailey
Chiefs trainer Rick Burkholder said Wednesday that inside linebacker Justin March-Lillard underwent surgery for a broken bone in his hand Monday and that defensive tackle Allen Bailey will have surgery for a torn pectoral muscle next Monday.
The two players were placed on injured reserve this week after they were injured in Sunday’s game at Oakland.
Another Chiefs player, cornerback Phillip Gaines, appeared in 12 defensive snaps during the 26-10 victory over the Raiders before leaving because of a knee injury that appears related to the ACL tear that caused him to miss all but three games last season.
Burkholder said there’s a chance Gaines, who had a MRI this week, will be back for practice Thursday.
Listed as full practice participants Wednesday: tackle Mitchell Schwartz (ankle), cornerback Kenny Acker (shoulder) and offensive lineman Jordan Devey (ankle).
▪ Also Wednesday, the Chiefs signed linebacker Deion Barnes to the practice squad.
