The bad news on the injury front continues for the Royals.

The team on Wednesday recalled right-hander Kris Medlen from a minor-league injury rehab assignment after he strained his right shoulder during a game Tuesday with Class AAA Omaha.

Medlen, who was 1-3 with a 7.77 ERA in six starts for the Royals this season, will be re-evaluated Wednesday, the team said. Medlen, 30, has made five starts on his rehab assignment, and has a 5.50 ERA. That includes two games at Class AA Northwest Arkansas and three games with the Storm Chasers.

Medlen was placed on the disabled list on May 12 because of right rotator cuff inflammation.

The Royals on Tuesday put closer Wade Davis on the disabled list, and center fielder Lorenzo Cain and third baseman Mike Moustakas are also on the disabled list.
