Lucas, who was not selected in Thursday’s two-round, 60-player NBA Draft, worked out for Atlanta, Detroit, Minnesota, Boston, Denver, Utah, Milwaukee, Sacramento and Oklahoma City in weeks prior to the draft. He considered about five offers to play on NBA summer league teams before choosing the Celtics, a family member said.
Lucas averaged 8.0 points and 8.3 rebounds a game this past season for (31-5) KU.
The Celtics summer league team will play three games in the Utah Jazz Summer League July 3-6 in Salt Lake City. The squad will play in the Las Vegas summer league July 7-17. Lucas will head to Boston for training camp on Wednesday.
