A 33-year-old Kansas City man is recovering after being shot in the face Sunday morning while he was driving in the 8300 block of Troost Avenue.

The initial emergency call was made just after 11 a.m. on a report of five gunshots being fired and several vehicles speeding away. A witness said a man wearing a bandana was seen fleeing southbound while firing shots from a blue SUV, possibly a Ford Bronco.

The victim drove himself to a hospital and later told officers he was driving on Troost Avenue when an unknown man fired into the windshield of his vehicle. A bullet struck the man in the face.
