Former Johnson County massage therapist is found guilty of sexually motivated crime
A former Shawnee massage parlor therapist has been found guilty after pleading no contest to a sexually motivated crime against a massage customer in 2014.
Freddy Perez-Cartagena, 49, of Olathe, pleaded no contest Thursday in Johnson County District Court to a charge of aggravated battery that was sexually motivated.
A judge then found him guilty of the felony crime and scheduled sentencing for Sept. 7.
The incident involving a 29-year-old woman occurred in August 2014 at a Shawnee massage parlor where Perez-Cartagena worked.
He was initially charged with rape and aggravated criminal sodomy, but he pleaded no contest to the amended charge.
Because Perez-Cartagena was convicted of a sexually motivated crime, he will be required to register as a sex offender when he is released from prison.
Perez-Cartagena was charged in 2007 with three misdemeanor counts of sexual battery. He later pleaded guilty to amended charges of battery, according to court records.
