FBI releases poster seeking information on assault of Muslim college student
Federal investigators have a released a poster on Friday seeking the public's help for information about a Muslim student who was assaulted leaving class last month on the campus of Metropolitan Community College-Penn Valley.
The assault happened on the afternoon of April 3, in the stairwell of the Humanities Building at 3201 Southwest Trafficway. The female student told authorities she was walking down stairs after class and an unknown man made a derogatory comment.
The student turned around and was struck in the face, which caused her to fall down the stairs. She reported the incident to campus police and was treated for her injuries.
The FBI is investigating the incident as a "potential hate crime," and are offering a $10,000 reward for information leading to an arrest.
