Officer-involved shooting injures one in Johnson County, police say

An officer-involved shooting Tuesday evening near 87th and Maurer streets in Lenexa injured one, according to the Lenexa Police Department.

"Officers performed life saving measures on the suspect and the suspect was transported to an area hospital," the department said in a tweet.

The department said no officers were seriously injured.

A police spokesman did not immediately respond to a question about whether the person hurt was armed.

The officer-involved shooting is related to a nearby crime scene near 81st and Woodland streets, police said.

The Johnson County Officer-Involved Shooting Investigation Team is leading a probe into the incident.
