65-year-old Overland Park heroin dealer linked to Mexican cartel sent to prison

A 65-year-old Overland Park man who dealt large amounts of heroin in the Kansas City area has been sentenced to 15 years in federal prison.

Dennis McLallen was also ordered to pay a judgment of $850,000, which was the estimated amount of money made from dealing drugs.

The charges against McLallen stemmed from an investigation by federal agents and Kansas City and St. Louis police.

McLallen and his wife were among 18 people charged in the conspiracy, including sources in Mexico who supplied drugs to McLallen.

He pleaded guilty last year to charges of conspiracy to distribute heroin, conspiracy to commit money laundering and conspiracy to carry firearms during the commission of drug crime.

As part of his plea agreement, McLallen admitted that he was responsible for distributing more than 10 kilograms of the drug during the course of the conspiracy.
