One person killed in overnight shooting at home in Independence

Update: Police identified the victim Thursday afternoon as Abigail L. Edwards, 20, of Independence.

A person was shot and killed early Thursday at a home in Independence, police said.

Police responded to reports of a shooting about 12:35 a.m. at a home in the 500 block of South Oxford Avenue.

Arriving officers found a deceased person inside the house. The victim had been shot.

Police are investigating the person's death as a homicide.
