Former Chiefs linebacker seeking diversion in marijuana possession case
Former Kansas City Chiefs linebacker Kevin Pierre-Louis is applying for diversion on marijuana possession charges in Johnson County.
Pierre-Louis, 26, was charged in January after a Kansas Highway Patrol trooper found marijuana in his Tesla after stopping him for having an expired license tag.
Defense attorney Ryan Ginie said at a hearing Wednesday in Johnson County District Court that Pierre-Louis is applying for the diversion program with the Johnson County District Attorney's Office.
If he is granted diversion and stays out of trouble for a year the charges would be dismissed.
The next court hearing for Pierre-Louis is scheduled for May 15.
He is now with the New York Jets.
