KC police investigate possible homicide after finding woman sprawled on porch
Police were investigating a possible homicide following a shooting Friday morning in south-central Kansas City.
Police were called shortly before 10 a.m. to the 6000 block of South Benton Avenue and found a woman sprawled on the front porch of a residence. Paramedics' efforts to revive her were unsuccessful, said police Sgt. Kari D. Thompson.
The victim's name has not been released.
A person of interest, taken into custody at a separate location, is cooperating with investigators, but no other details have been released.
"Violence is unfortunately plaguing our community and is tearing up families," Thompson said. "So we really like to find out what happened."
