Man who led police on high-speed chase charged in Platte County bank robbery
A Kansas City man was charged Wednesday with a bank robbery in Platte County.
The robbery occurred around noon Tuesday at a US Bank branch in Edgerton.
Joshua W. Lewis, 27, was charged by Platte County prosecutors with burglary, stealing and resisting arrest.
He was arrested after leading police on a chase that at times reached 100 mph. It ended in Kansas City near 33rd Street and Jackson Avenue after a device was used to puncture the tires on his Dodge Charger.
According to documents filed in Platte County Circuit Court, a large amount of cash and a 9mm handgun were found in his car after his arrest.
Lewis allegedly admitted to committing the robbery, and told investigators he committed the robbery to pay back a "loan" he owed to a gang member, according to the documents.
