Police asking for help locating person of interest in gas station shooting
Police are seeking help in locating a person of interest connected to a Monday afternoon shooting death.
A man was shot at the Conoco Phillips gas station at 27th Street and Indiana Avenue in Kansas City early Monday afternoon, and was declared dead at a nearby hospital.
Around 3:15 p.m. police responded to reports of a shooting at the gas station and upon arrival discovered a man suffering from multiple gunshot wounds to the chest. Police say that witnesses at the scene observed the victim get into a verbal altercation with the suspect in the station parking lot. They state the suspect then shot the victim before getting into an unknown vehicle and driving away. Police say this was the victim’s second altercation at the station; that he had been in a separate verbal altercation with a different male moments before he encountered the suspect and was fatally shot.
The victim is described by police as a white male approximately in his 30s. His name is not being released pending notification to his relatives.
At about 8:45 p.m. police released a photo of a person of interest in the homicide. Anyone with information is asked to call the KCPD Homicide unit at 816-234-5043 or the TIPS hotline at 816-474-TIPS.
The shooting marks Kansas City’s 14th homicide of the year.
