Man found guilty of murder in 2015 death of baby in Shawnee
A 26-year-old man has pleaded no contest to second-degree murder in the 2015 death of an infant girl in Shawnee.
Aaron Peck, 26, entered the no contest plea late Tuesday afternoon in Johnson County District Court.
A judge then found him guilty of the intentional second-degree murder charge and scheduled sentencing for Jan. 31.
Analeece McHenry-Widmer was 7 months old in July 2015 when she was killed. Peck shared an apartment with the girl’s mother.
Peck was initially charged with first-degree murder and child abuse. Prosecutors dismissed the child abuse charge as part of Tuesday’s plea agreement.
He has been in jail for 867 days, and the sentence he receives will depend on the extent of any prior criminal record.
