Two women identified among victims of triple homicide in Kansas City
Kansas City police on Sunday released the names of two women killed in a triple shooting Friday inside an east Kansas City house.
Police identified one of the victims as 30-year-old Jennifer Zimmerman, of Kansas City. Family members told police that she may have recently changed her last name to Portillo.
Yessenia Ahumada, 25, was also killed. She was a Kansas City resident, according to police.
A man killed in the shooting has not yet been publicly identified. Police said detectives are trying to contact relatives outside the U.S.
The killings are being investigated as a triple homicide, police said.
The shooting was reported shortly before 10 a.m. Friday at a house on the corner of 17th Street and Chelsea Avenue.
A female caller reported that there had been a shooting and that she was wounded.
When police arrived they found a man dead. A woman was pronounced dead at the scene a short time later.
The woman who called police was taken to a hospital, but later died from her injuries.
