Independence police find body of 72-year-old man inside home after receiving burglary report
What started out as a report of burglary is now being investigated as a homicide after police in Independence found the body of a 72-year-old man inside a home in the 12500 block of East 43rd Street on Monday.
The Independence Police Department said in a Facebook post that officers were dispatched to a burglary at a home on East 43rd Street at 10:34 a.m. Monday. At the scene, police said it appeared someone had forced their way into the home. Officers found a deceased subject inside the home as they were investigating.
Police said the incident is now being investigated as a homicide. On Tuesday, police identified the victim as 72-year-old William F. Domann.
No arrests had been announced as of Tuesday, and detectives were looking to talk with witnesses.
