Kansas City police launch investigation following woman’s fatal shooting

Kansas City police are investigating the shooting death of a woman who was found Friday afternoon in the 5700 block of Cambridge Avenue.

The victim’s name has not been released. Officers responded to the reported shooting and found the victim suffering from a gunshot wound.

The woman was taken to a hospital, where she died two hours later. Police took a suspect in custody at the crime scene.

Details of what led to the shooting were not released.

Friday morning a deceased woman was discovered in a parked car in Westport in an unrelated incident.

The woman was discovered in the 300 block of 39th Terrace, Kansas City police said. Officers were called to the location just before noon Friday. The woman’s age was unknown.
