One person killed in shooting near Starlight Theatre

Police were investigating a shooting that left one person dead Saturday night near Starlight Theatre in Kansas City.

The shooting was reported just after 9 p.m. in a shelter house of Swope Park in the 4600 block of Starlight Road.

According to police, one person was shot and later died at a hospital.

A suspect has been identified, but is not yet in custody, police said.

The killing was the third homicide in Kansas City in the last 24 hours.

Frank Elliott Raney Jr., 24, of Kansas City, was shot and killed about 6 a.m. Saturday near Bannister Road and McGee Street.

Dasean J. Davis, also 24, was one of two men shot in the parking lot of the Soul Lounge night club about 1:30 a.m. The club is in the 9900 block of Holmes Road.
