Lansing prison escapee back in custody
Kansas prison officials said a minimum security inmate escaped Friday from the Lansing Correctional Facility has been arrested.
James L. Stewart II escaped about 8:30 a.m. Friday. Prison officials said he was arrested just before 11 a.m. in Topeka.
Stewart, 34, has been in prison since 2013 after he was convicted of attempted aggravated robbery in Jefferson County, according to prison records. He was eligible for parole in 2021, according to the records.
