Defense rests without presenting evidence in first She’s a Pistol murder trial
The defense in the first murder trial stemming from the She’s a Pistol gun shop shooting rested Wednesday without presenting any evidence.
Defendant Londro Emanuel Patterson III, 21, is charged with first-degree murder, two counts of aggravated robbery and aggravated battery. He chose not to testify. His attorneys made motions to dismiss the charges, but Johnson County District Court Judge Timothy P. McCarthy denied them, saying the state had presented a prima facie case.
Patterson is charged with being part of an armed robbery attempt in January 2015 on the Shawnee gun shop in which co-owner Jon Bieker was killed by a gunshot that severed his aorta.
The prosecution and defense will make closing arguments to the jury Thursday morning.
Three other defendants are also charged with first-degree murder.
