Kansas City police were investigating a shooting death Tuesday night at a motel in the 8900 block of U.S. 40.

The victim was dead in the parking lot when police arrived, a dispatcher said.

A motel employee told police that she was robbed by a man wearing a black vest prior to the shooting.

Police did not have a detailed description of the shooter.
