A man fatally shot Tuesday night on Kansas City’s East Side has been identified as Jeremy Eubanks, 37, of Kansas City.

Officers responding to reports of a shooting found Eubanks’ body about 9:30 p.m. in the 3700 block of Fremont Avenue. He was pronounced dead a short time later.

Witnesses told police that a dark-colored compact car fled from the scene after the sound of gunfire.

Eubanks is the city’s 97th homicide of the year. So far in 2016, there have been 157 homicides in the Kansas City area.
