Lenexa officer fires at man while attempting arrest at a Shawnee QuikTrip
A Lenexa police officer is on paid administrative leave Thursday after he fired his service firearm at a person while trying to help arrest the man, who was wanted on an outstanding felony warrant, at a Shawnee convenience store .
The incident happened just after midnight when a Shawnee police officer checked the license plate of a vehicle parked at the QuikTrip located in the 10300 block of West 75th Street.
The records showed that the person connected to the vehicle had an outstanding warrant.
A Lenexa officer arrived to assist the Shawnee officer and while doing so fired his weapon at the man, who fled in an unknown direction.
The man remains at large. Investigators do not know if he was injured.
The Lenexa officer sustained minor scrapes during the altercation. No other injuries were reported.
The Johnson County multijurisdictional Officer Involved Shooting Investigation Team is reviewing the incident.
