Police: Report of woman jogger attacked on Overland Park trail early Saturday unfounded

The reported assault of a female jogger Saturday morning on a trail near Indian Creek Drive and Lamar Avenue in Overland Park was unfounded, police said.

Earlier Saturday, police said the woman was on the trail at about 6:30 a.m. when she was attacked by a man.

Those reports, police said in a statement, couldn't be corroborated.

"The Overland Park Police Department has determined after intense follow up, the sexual assault on the Indian Creek Trail near Lamar is unfounded," officials wrote. "The Overland Park Police Department would like to thank the citizens and media for their efforts and concerns regarding this case."

Police did not immediately return messages asking for more information on the report.
