Serving my community and working to enhance their quality of life motivates me to run for re-election in the 9th Senate district. I hear (voters) say that their number one priority is strong public education. We need to make sure our Johnson County schools have the local control and funding that they need to ensure all students graduate ready to excel in college or their careers. It is critical that our state is fiscally sound and our tax policies are fair and sustainable. I will continue to stand for protecting life, defending our community values and working for greater opportunities.

Chris Morrow

DEMOCRAT

Age: 53

Education: Bishop Miege High School

Occupation: Independent direct hire placement recruiter

Elected experience: Twice elected in Gardner, mayor: April 2013-present. City Council: April 2011 — 2013

When elected I will work for Kansans and residents of the 9th district, not special interest lobbyists, to move Kansas onward and upward past the Gov. Sam Brownback era. This will require fixing the broken state budget and fairly balancing the lopsided tax policy. Also sharp focus will be required for other critical issues affecting Kansas, including: Proper funding for our K-12 public schools and our state colleges and universities. Growing our economy. Maintaining, repairing and expanding Kansas highways. Improving quality of life for all Kansans from the youngest to our most senior. Expanding healthcare coverage through KanCare, and much more.
