Detectives are investigating after a body was found Saturday in the Kansas River, according to police.

Officers were called around noon to the eastern banks of the river between Interstate 670 and Kansas Avenue, where they found what appears to be an adult man’s body, Nancy Chartrand, a spokeswoman with the Kansas City, Kansas Police Department, said in a news release.

Upon initial observation, officials don’t think the body was in the water for an extended period of time, Chartrand said.

Police ask anyone with information to call the anonymous TIPS Hotline at 816-474-8477.
