A 30-year-old man being detained at the Jackson County jail died at a hospital Friday after being found unresponsive earlier in the week, Jackson County Sheriff Darryl Forté said on Twitter.

Foul play was not suspected in the man’s death, said Forté, who added the sheriff’s office was still conducting its investigation.

The man’s identity and the reason he was in custody has not been released.

The man was found unresponsive Wednesday in a “living unit” at the jail, Forté said. He was taken to a hospital where he was pronounced dead on Friday.
