Eleven rescued from Overland Park apartment fire
Fire department crews rescued 11 people from a fire Sunday morning at an apartment complex near 79th and Farley streets in Overland Park, according to authorities.
The Overland Park Fire Department, along with crews from Lenexa and Consolidated Fire, responded to the fire shortly before 9 a.m.
Arriving firefighters reported heavy smoke coming from the apartments and began working on the fire, according to a news release from the Overland Park Fire Department.
Eleven people were rescued, including several from balconies.
One person was taken to a hospital with minor injuries.
