If you were up early Saturday, you might have felt it: Kansas City had record-setting cold weather.

National Weather Service meteorologist Chris Bowman said the low temperature hit 16 degrees Saturday morning, breaking the previous April 7 record of 18 degrees set in 2007.

The last time it was this cold in April in Kansas City was 1975, when the low hit 12 degrees on April 3.

The normal low temperature for April 7?

A balmy 41 degrees.

Kansas City should be getting back to those temperatures by Tuesday, but in the meantime, there's more wintry weather to come.

Sunday's forecast calls for temperatures in the 30s, with a chance of snow.

But don't expect any accumulation, Bowman said. That snow should turn to rain by noon.

“For the Kansas City area, it’s probably not going to be that much," Bowman said. "We could see some snow mixed in, but temperatures are going to be warming, so there’s not going to much of an impact.”
