The employer of a woman whose two daughters were killed in a crash Sunday on Interstate 435 has set up a GoFundMe page for the family.

Angelica Hernandez-Valentin, an employee of McAlister’s Deli in Grandview, remained hospitalized. She was the driver of a van that was struck from behind by a semi tractor-trailer near State Line Road. The Kansas Highway Patrol said the van was stopped in the westbound lanes for an unknown reason.

One-year-old Teresa Vasquez and 7-year-old Ruth S. Vasquez were killed. Her two sons, ages 9 and 14, were injured.

The GoFundMe page was created by The Saxton Group, a franchisee of McAlister’s Deli.

“Angelica has been a valued member of The Saxton Group family since November, 2016,” Chase Kelly, the company’s regional director of operations, wrote on the page. “It is my wish that we are able to help her and her family during this trying time.”

As of midday Tuesday, the page had raised $3,445 out of a goal of $5,000.

In Sunday’s crash, the tractor-trailer left the roadway and struck a concrete wall. The driver was also taken to a hospital. He had been treated and released Monday.

The crash shut down the westbound lanes of the highway for several hours.
