How’s a doughnut with burnt ends sound? Grill Dads feature KC treat on Food Network

Picture a rye doughnut topped with burnt ends, pickled corn and red onions, avocado, eggs, hollandaise and bacon.

Can’t see it? Then stop by Kansas City’s own Doughnut Lounge, or check out the Food Network at 10 p.m. Friday for a demonstration.

The Grill Dads program visited the Doughnut Lounge recently to do a segment on the DL39, as the new creation is dubbed.

The DL stands for Doughnut Lounge and the 39 is for Q39 barbecue, another Kansas City favorite.

The Food Network’s description of this episode says the Grill Dads visit the Doughnut Lounge, “where they whip up homemade doughnuts and pair them with crispy burnt ends from smoked brisket to create a sweet and savory breakfast sandwich that’s too unique to miss.”

There will be a watch party at the Doughnut Lounge in Westport, 4117 Pennsylvania Ave.

The DL39 was also featured Thursday on Kansas City Live!
