Viral drone video shows pileups that shut down icy I-44 near Springfield, Mo.
A viral drone video from the Conway, Mo., Volunteer Fire Department shows cars and semi trucks piled up on Interstate 44 Sunday.
A 63-year-old woman died and an unknown number of people were injured Sunday in a series of crashes involving more than 100 vehicles, including numerous semitractor-trailers, on the snowy and icy interstate.
The series of crashes began about 2 p.m., with the worst involving 30 vehicles near Rolla, Mo., according to the Missouri Highway Patrol.
The Conway Volunteer Fire Department released a video on its Facebook page that quickly went viral. Less than 12 hours after it was posted, the video had been viewed 1 million times.
The video shows an aerial view of multiple wrecks involving cars and semis near Marshfield, Mo.
The interstate was shut down in both directions for several hours but has since reopened.
