Morning Rush: Alleged trail killer charged; Duffy’s DUI; ethics complaint in KCI committee
Here’s what you need to know Wednesday:
Alleged trail killer Fredrick Scott charged
A mysterious series of apparently random killings in Kansas City, mostly committed in isolated spots along walking trails, came to an end when the killer deviated from his pattern with a brazen, execution-style shooting in broad daylight on a city street, according to Jackson County prosecutors. Glenn Rice, Ian Cummings and Joe Robertson have the full story.
Duffy’s DUI
Royals pitcher Danny Duffy was cited Sunday in Overland Park for driving under the influence, police said Tuesday. Sam Mellinger writes that Duffy’s offense shouldn’t be washed away because of his popularity.
Trump in Missouri
Trump may avoid specifics on tax cuts when he speaks in Springfield on Wednesday, Bryan Lowry and Hunter Woodall report. His supporters there gave an assessment of their president to Melinda Henneberger.
KCI contract selection delayed
An ethics complaint against a member of the KCI selection committee has delayed plans to publicly reveal the recommended choice to build and finance a new single terminal at the airport, Steve Vockrodt and Lynn Horsley report.
The man behind Joe’s BBQ
Jeff Stehney is not your average Joe, Jill Wendholt Silva reports. As owner of Joe’s Kansas City, he’s partnering to bring a new concept for a restaurant to Power and Light.
