Multi-vehicle crash, police pursuit snarl traffic on I-435 near Metcalf

A multiple-vehicle crash and a police pursuit has caused lane closures on westbound Interstate 435 near Metcalf Avenue in Overland Park, snarling rush-hour traffic.

Both incidents were reported Thursday morning and have closed the three left lanes on westbound I-435. The crash was reported shortly after 7 a.m.

Officer John Lacy, a spokesman with Overland Park police, said the incidents were separate. The pursuit originated in Kansas City. KC police pursued a vehicle along westbound I-435, and the pursuit ended at Roe Avenue, Lacy said.

The crash occurred west of Lamar Avenue near Metcalf. It involved four vehicles, and injuries were reported. No injuries were reported from the pursuit, Lacy said.
