North Kansas City Hospital will build 11-acre medical office park in Platte County

North Kansas City Hospital plans to construct a medical office park in central Platte County that will consist of five new buildings.

The board of trustees for the public hospital owns the 11 acres of undeveloped property at the northeast corner of Northwest 101st Terrace and Ambassador Drive.

“As the Northland grows, so does our 58-year-old commitment to support the health and well-being of our community,” North Kansas City Hospital said in a statement.

“With this in mind, North Kansas City Hospital in 1998 purchased over eleven acres of land near the northeast corner of N.W. 101st Terrace and N. Ambassador Drive in northern Platte County.”

According to plans submitted to City Hall, the hospital plans to construct as many as five buildings totaling nearly 100,000 square feet of medical office space.

The hospital said it would start construction on a Meritas Health primary care clinic this year, which would open in 2017. No timetable has been established for the construction of the four other buildings.

North Kansas City Hospital founded Meritas Health in 1994, which has since grown into a network of 135 physicians at 30 medical clinics spread across Clay and Platte counties, according to its website.

“The new clinic and complex is poised to offer greater convenience and access to multidisciplinary health and wellness services for the growing Twin Creeks and northern Platte County areas,” the hospital said.

The Kansas City Council approved a development plan for the medical office park in June.
