Dick’s Sporting Goods to relocate, expand in Lee’s Summit
Dick’s Sporting Goods plans a spring 2017 opening for a new 50,000-square-foot free-standing store in Summit Fair in Lee’s Summit.
It will relocate its 20,000-square-foot store in its sister shopping center, Summit Woods, to Summit Fair. Dick’s was an original tenant of Summit Woods when it opened in 2001.
Summit Fair is an open-air lifestyle center at Interstate 470 and U.S 50. It counts Macy’s, J.C. Penney and DSW among its tenants.
It also is now part of the 1-year-old Big Red Portfolio, a joint venture partnership between Red Development and Big Shopping Centers USA of Beverly Hills, Calif.; that deal closed Aug. 17. The portfolio now consists of 10 retail assets totaling more than 3.5 million square feet in four states: Missouri, Arizona, Nebraska and Wisconsin.
H&M, a leading fashion retailer, also is taking 20,000 square feet in another new Summit Fair building, at 820 N.W. Blue Parkway, for a spring 2017 opening. H&M offers low-price but fashionable clothing and accessories for the family.
Big Red Portfolio is in talks with other retailers for the remaining 5,360-square-foot space in the H&M building.
Summit Fair will then have 516,268 square feet of retail tenants. It serves more than 380,000 residents in a 10-mile radius.
