Springfield doughnut chain entering the Kansas City market
Ward Parkway Center said it has signed Springfield’s Hurts Donut Co. for its Ward Parkway Restaurant Pavilion.
Hurts will take a 3,500-square-foot space at 8807 State Line Road for a May opening.
Officials with Hurts Donut Co. couldn’t be reached for comment.
Hurts offers more than 70 varieties of oversized specialty doughnuts, including classic and glazed doughnuts, Andes mint, Bavarian, Fruity Pebbles, cotton candy, s’mores, birthday cake, cinnamon rolls and maple bacon bars.
It is open round-the-clock daily. It currently has 17 locations, including shops in Kansas, Iowa, Nebraska and Oklahoma.
It also has a fleet of Hurts Donut “ambulances” to cater events.
The new Ward Parkway Restaurant Pavilion is a $16 million, 22,235-square-foot covered pedestrian plaza with outdoor seating areas, fountains and fire pits. Its current tenants are Charleston’s; MidiCi, the Neapolitan Pizza Co.; and Smitty’s Garage. It has one space still available.
