A longtime Northeast bar’s liquor licenses are in jeopardy.

The Kansas City Liquor Control Board of Review had a public hearing regarding the suspension and potential revocation of the Smuggler’s Inn’s retail sales-by-drink, retail sales-by-drink Sunday license and 3 a.m. closing permit on May 16. Now another public hearing is scheduled for 9 a.m. June 20 in the Biery Auditorium, Kansas City Missouri Health Department, 2400 Troost Ave.

Palmera’s Disco has been operating in the spot on some nights.

In May 2014, a Kansas City, Kan., man was charged with first-degree murder and armed criminal action in the shooting death of Ludy Cruz outside the Smuggler’s Inn, at 1650 N. Universal Ave., just west of Interstate 435 and south of the Missouri River.
