Menards home improvement opening stores in Independence, Olathe

Menards, an Eau Claire, Wis.-based home improvement chain, will open two area locations on Tuesday.

The stores are at 4101 S. Little Blue Parkway in Independence and at 14011 W. 135th St. in Olathe.

Store hours will be 6:30 a.m. to 10 p.m. Monday through Saturday, and 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday. The stores will have grand openings later this year.

Menards offers full-service lumberyards, garden centers, landscape blocks, lighting options, lawn and garden supplies, tools, hardware supplies, doors, windows, flooring, plumbing supplies, cabinets, appliances, patio furniture, home decor items and more, including convenience groceries, pet and wildlife products.

The family-owned company was founded in 1958 and now has more than 300 locations in 14 states., including a Belton store that opened in mid-October at 800 E. Markey Road.

A Northland location is scheduled to open in the winter of 2017 at 8901 N. Green Hills Road.
