National Beef starts $8 million expansion at its plant in Liberal, Kan.
National Beef Packing Co. LLC on Wednesday announced an $8 million expansion of its facility in Liberal, Kan.
The Kansas City-based company said the project will expand the plant’s boxed beef storage and shipping capabilities, including new sorters and shipping lanes. The project is expected to be completed in late spring 2017.
“Customers increasingly are requesting smaller and lighter boxes,” said Dennis Boyles, National Beef’s vice president and general manager. “This project will position us to more efficiently deliver the products customers want, when they want them.”
National Beef in July announced plans for a similar expansion at its plant in Dodge City, Kan.
The company, which has about 7,800 employees, generated sales of $7.4 billion in its 2015 fiscal year.
