North Kansas City-based engineering firm being acquired

Olsson Associates on Monday said it has signed an agreement to acquire Lutjen Inc., a North Kansas City-based engineering firm.

The purchase is expected to be completed by June 13. Financial terms were not disclosed.

Lutjen, located at 1301 Burlington St., has 52 employees. Founded in 1984, the company specializes in site and civil engineering, land planning, land surveying, landscape architecture, traffic and transportation.

Olsson has nearly 30 offices in the Midwest and Southwest, including four in the Kansas City area. It has about 200 area employees. The employee-owned company also offers comprehensive engineering services.

Lutjen said its management and staff will remain unchanged. The company will take on the Olsson Associates name in 2017.
