A public session on planned cuts to benefits under the Central States Pension Fund will be held Tuesday at the Kansas City Convention Center.

The event is scheduled to run from 4:30 to 6:30 p.m. in Ballroom 2501 CD of the center, which is at 301 W. 13th St.

The U.S. Treasury will rule on whether the plan, which involves cuts of 50 percent and more to many retired Teamsters, meets the requirements of a 2014 law that allows the plan to be considered.

Kenneth Feinberg, a noted mediator, was appointed special master to handle the case. He will hear from those affected by the proposal during the session.
