Fast-food cooks and cashiers are planning a strike Tuesday in Kansas City and about 270 other U.S. cities.

The walkouts are part of the ongoing national labor movement for $15 an hour and a union.

Area child care workers, also part of the low-paid workforce, are expected to join fast-food workers in a march to Barney Allis Plaza for a 5 p.m. rally and to City Hall for a 5:30 p.m. rally.
