Zipcar has expanded its car rental services to Kansas City International Airport.

The new service, launched this week, is part of the company’s efforts to expand to airports across the country. The KCI service is aimed at business travelers who might be flying here for a day for a meeting as well as those who have lengthy delays or layovers.

“Instead of sitting at the airport for hours on end, our Zipcar travelers can reserve a Zipcar for a couple hours and get out and explore the local area,” said Lindsay Wester, public relations manager for Zipcar.

The cars are also available for Zipcar members who live locally, she said.

The company has two cars at the airport — a Honda Civic and a Honda CR-V. They are available for $10 per hour or $79 per day. Gas, insurance and 180 miles are included with each reservation.

Members reserve cars online, on their smartphones or by calling. For information, go to zipcar.com.
