DST Systems’ layoff of 150 employees affects KC, Jefferson City, Connecticut and India
DST Systems Inc. is closing its Jefferson City office amid a layoff of 150 employees, including some in India, Connecticut and Kansas City, where the company is based.
A report by the Jefferson City News Tribune said 70 employees work at the office there, although a DST spokeswoman would not say how many jobs are involved at any of the sites.
Many of the Jefferson City employees are being offered transfers to Kansas City, said Laura Parsons, the DST spokeswoman. She said all of the jobs are in DST’s asset management servicing and retirement solutions businesses, which are among its financial services. None of the cutbacks are coming in DST’s health care business services, she said.
The layoffs will come during the last few months of this year, with the Jefferson City office closing at the end of the year.
“There is a very focused effort making sure all of our businesses are healthy and sustainable,” Parsons said to explain the job cuts.
DST provides data processing and other services to companies, including mutual fund groups. It has about 13,000 employees globally.
